I am on the bus to the port in the northern part of Cebu island – Hagnaya. Although, my hope was to get on the air-conditioned bus I didn’t want to risk not making it on time for the last ferry to Bantayan departing at 5:30 PM, so that’s the reason why I am writing this being much sweatier than an old, fat American guy after making love to the (newly met) love of his life that he just met in a local club and that feeling of love didn’t cost him more than 3000 pesos (~60€).
I have a strong feeling that our bus driver doesn’t know the basic laws of physics, so if you’re actually reading this note, it means that I was extremely lucky and made it to the port.
I will visit Michael, a Polish guy I met during my first stay in the Philippines. Michael had enough balls to abandon the life he had known for his entire time on Earth and moved to the place as distant on the map as possible. He’s writing a popular blog at BreakDaCycle.com.
I am going there looking for some real traveling experience. I am not really a fan of those Western-customer targeted resorts with private beaches and strictly secluded tourist areas with bars, restaurants, etc. I want to drink with local people, get to know their stories, see how they live their everyday life.
A friend of mine – Queeny, a Filipina, who was kind enough to come with me on a VERY short notice (I basically texted her that the last bus leaves in 30 minutes and that she should pack her things and come) is coming with me.
It’s been a while since I posted anything on this website and many things have happened in my life since then, but I think I am happier than ever with all the life and business opportunities coming my way from everywhere. The idea of reactivating this blog was following me for a really long time and I finally made a decision to do it.
My 2015 plans consisted mostly of poker goals and I can proudly say that I am on a very good way to have most of my efforts redirected towards business goals rather than playing poker myself.
There are numerous reasons why I am proud of this transition. I cannot and I do NOT want to quit poker entirely, but my goal with poker was always to treat it as a mean to achieve what is called financial independence and, therefore, a tool to do other things in the future. Things that create value to the society. Playing poker is not one of them and it took me quite some time to realize why I hadn’t been feeling completely okay with it. On the other hand, coaching poker players and helping them achieving their goals, their financial independence creates value in my opinion.
First 4 months of 2015 was financially the best period of my life, by far. I won more in those 4 months than I had earned in whole my life before that. It was (and still is) a massive achievement for me, especially in the light of excellent 2014. It made me somehow calm about my future, but also showed me that I wasn’t ready for big money. I might elaborate on that in one of the next notes.
I am really lucky to be in a place I am now, but it wasn’t always easy. I want this blog to be a place that could possibly help other individuals to reach their dreams about independent life , full of meaningful experiences; to motivate them in their moments of doubt, guide towards brighter future and to show them how to stay in the present moment since it is the only thing we really own.
I do NOT have any scientific background and all of the content I will be presenting is based on my life experience, but many people asked me to reveal “how I did it” and I was always hesitant to do it. I don’t consider myself as an authority, but I am aware that I could be for some. If there is anything I can do for those people, I will be happy to help.
As you could have noticed, the site has been slightly modernized. New logo, new graphics, improved form. I really like it and I hope you’ll like it too.
- he that travels far knows much – I travel somewhat frequently, I definitely make too few pictures; I promise to work on that and to show you the results.
- the way to a heart is through stomach – culinary is my passion; restaurants and trying new kinds of food is my little addiction (okay, not so little ;)); why not to share?
Game of Skill:
Poker is my primary specialty. I love the game and I have a lot to offer in this area.
- reports from the battlefield – some reports and overall strategy tips of mine.
- strategy is the key – more strategy tips, some poker articles, quality content, you know.
- entrepreneurship – my insights and experiences in transitioning from being a professional poker player to an entrepreneur.
- my POV – my personal thoughts on various subjects; not always politically correct.
That’d be it for today. Our bus is almost in Hagnaya (after 3.5 hours of driving on a bumpy road and being scared of losing my life).
We’re in touch.
